[Deliberate poisoning with paraquat, death in less than 24 hours].
This paper describes a case of deliberate massive ingestion of Paraquat (over 300 mg/Kg). Evolution is toward a circulatory insufficiency with metabolic acidosis, hyperglycemia, and early death (18 hours). Severe pulmonary failure would have been expected, but not appeared. Autopsy revealed patchy necrosis of the liver but no severe damage of the other organs, including lung and adrenal.
متن کاملLaparoscopic Colon Resections With Discharge Less Than 24 Hours
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES A short hospital stay is one of the main advantages of laparoscopic surgery. Previous studies have shown that after a multimodal fast-track process, the hospital length of stay can be shortened to between 2 and 5 days. The objective of this review is to show that the hospital length of stay can, in some cases, be reduced to <24 hours. METHODS This study retrospective...
متن کاملApplication of NRCS-curve number method for runoff estimation in a mountainous watershed
The major problem in the assessment of relationships between rainfall and runoff occurs when a study is carried out in ungauged watersheds in the absence of hydro-climatic data. This study aims to evaluate the applicability of Natural Resources Conservation Service-Curve Number (NRCS-CN) method together with GIS in estimating runoff depth in a mountainous watershed. The study was carried out in...
متن کاملDemonstration that thiazole-orange-positive platelets in the dog are less than 24 hours old.
Approximately 6% of dog platelets are positive for staining with thiazole orange, a dye frequently used to stain ribonucleic acid. In this report, thiazole-orange positivity is shown to mark platelets that are less than 24 hours old. Dog platelets were derivatized in vivo with N-hydroxysuccinimido biotin such that greater than 95% of all platelets were biotinylated. Newly synthesized, nonbiotin...
